Apple iPhone 4

The Apple iPhone 4 is now officially available in India. Aircel is already offering the iPhone 4 with 100% money back scheme. The iPhone 4 is much lighter, faster and comes with a high resolution screen. If you compare with the iPhone predecessors, iPhone 4 is way ahead.

It nearly took about a year for the iPhone 4 to officially enter the Indian markets. When the iPhone 4 was first launched there were a host of problems like the famous signal bar dropping off etc., followed by controversies on how one should hold the iPhone 4 to avoid signal loss. Hopefully Indian users will not face those issues. Anyway it doesn’t matter how you hold the iPhone 4 in India, you will still see dropping signal thanks to the quality provided by Indian service provider.

Apple iPhone 4 features

The front camera can be used both for self portraits and for video chat. The iPhone 4 comes loaded with FaceTime app for video calling. This works right out of the box and you can start video calling almost immediately(requires 3G). With FaceTime during a video call, you can make use of both the cameras, with a single tap you can switch front or rear cameras.

Another noticeable improvement is the Retina display. The display quality is high resolution and with 4x the pixel count as compared with what the iPhone predecessors had. In simple words the display quality is so fine that the images are crystal clear and crisp, no matter how hard you try you will not be able to see any pixels (dots) on the screen.

With iPhone 4 multitasking you can run multiple apps including third party apps and switch between them with ease. The iPhone 4 supports 2G and 3G networks and weighs just 137g. The 3.5 inch LED back-lit IPS TFT screen with capacitive touchscreen supports 16M colours on 640 x 960 pixel resolution.

The iPhone 4 houses Accelerometer sensor used for gesture control. There is also a 3-axis gyro sensor that can detect rotation and can automatically changes the screen orientation depending on how the phone is held and Proximity sensor that can auto switch off the screen when phone is placed near to any object for example your face when making a call.
Apple iPhone 4 review (India)

iPhone 4 comes with 512 RAM and 16/32 GB of storage. The iPhone 4 is powered by 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor (Apple A4 chipset) and the iOS 4 operating system. Thousands of iPhone applications can be download from the Apple Store. Many iPhone owners have jailbroken their iPhone 4 which opens the door to many facilities that are initially blocked by default. Jailbreaking is legal, however doing so may void the iPhone 4 warranty.

Other features of iPhone 4 are Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, TV-Out, build in loudspeaker, GPS and Safari HTML browser.

The iPhone 4 does not have a Radio and there are no additional card slots. The phone also supports MicroSIM cards only.

iPhone 4 comes with the Li-Po 1420mAh battery which can play continuous music for almost 40 hours and last in standby mode up to 300 hours and gives a talk time of 7 hours on 3G network and up to 14 hours on 2G network.

iPhone 4 Price in India Rs. 34,500 for 16GB version and Rs. 40,900 for 32GB version.
Never miss a photo opportunity. The 5-megapixel camera built into iPhone 4 — with optional HDR setting — captures amazingly detailed images. A built-in LED flash illuminates low-light scenes. And the 5x digital zoom gets you closer to the action. You can even shoot self-portraits with the front camera.
HDR photography.
Now you can take great photos that capture a wider range of light intensity using the new high dynamic range (HDR) setting. After selecting HDR, just point iPhone 4 at your subject and shoot. iPhone 4 automatically captures three photos of the scene — each with different exposure levels. Then iPhone 4 layers the shots together to create a single photo that combines the best elements of each shot and more accurately represents the wide range of light in the scene. Both the regular shot and the HDR photo appear in the Camera Roll.
Built-in LED flash.

At a candlelit dinner, on the beach at night, or wherever the light’s not bright, you can still get great shots with iPhone 4. The advanced backside illumination sensor allows you to shoot low-light photos that are brighter and clearer than ever before. And iPhone 4 now includes a built-in LED flash that automatically fires when it’s needed.
Self-portraits made simple.
Want to take a picture of yourself? The new VGA-quality front camera on iPhone 4 makes it easy. No need to flip your iPhone around to guess where you are in the frame. Instead, just activate the front camera with a tap, check your image on the display, and shoot.

Tap to focus.

Autofocus keeps things sharp and the macro lens takes great close-ups. But you can also tap the iPhone display to focus on anything in the picture — a face in the background, for example — before you take the photo. Focusing also adjusts exposure and white balance automatically, so you get the best-quality photo possible.

Share your photos.

Send photos via email or MMS from the Camera app. Every photo you take is geotagged with information about your location, which you can save to your computer and share with iPhoto, Aperture, Flickr, and other compatible applications and services.

HTC Wildfire S

HTC Wildfire S has been released as a new version of its affordable Wildfire phone, available in grey, black and purple colors. We expect HTC Wildfire S to be priced between $223.790 and $335.685 when its launched in India.

The new Wildfire is a lot like its predecessor, but with better screen resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest edition of Android for smartphones.

HTC Wildfire S Tech Specs

HTC Wildfire S has a 600 MHz processor and uses HTC’s Sense user interface. Sense has some nifty featurs such as a Polite Ringer that goes silent when the phone is turned over; and a clock that uses the phone’s GPS to automatically update the time when the device is traveling across time zones. There’s also a windows-type application interface where multiple running apps are visible.
The new HTC Wildfire S, in contrast to the previous version, lacks an optical trackpad. It depends entirely on the touchscreen and four navigation keys – for home, search and back etc for inputs.
Measuring 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4 mm, Wildfire has a 3.2 inch touchscreen with display resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It weighs 105 grams, has 512 MB of ROM and as much RAM. The phone uses HSPA and WCDMA at 900 and 2100 MHz; and quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE. It uses Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and Wifi 802.11 b/g/n networks, and has a micro USB port. Wildfire is equipped wit a digital compass, proximity and light sensors, and has a 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus and LED flash. The device uses a 1230 mAh battery which can support about 6 hours of talk time on WCDMA or 7 hours on GSM.

HTC Wildfire S Price

HTC’s Wildfire is likely to be among the cheapest Gingerbread devices for a few months. The Taiwanese make has used the latest version of Android as well as Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP – both brand new technologies, despite Wildfire being a budget device with price ranging between $223.790 and $335.685. (Related: Cheap and best Android phones in India.)

According to people who had a chance to review Wildfire at MWC 2011 in Barcelona, the phone’s keyboard is slightly uncomfortable to use in portrait mode. One tends to hit the wrong buttons, such as enter instead of delete, and perhaps even the other way round. The phone’s inbox displays messages as conversation threads, a feature common on Android. HTC Sense has a customization menu that can be accessed from the homescreen. It allows the user to change the phone’s skin, change the wallpaper and make changes to the home screen.

LinkPush – Chrome2Phone Alternative For Android 2.1 Users

LinkPush – Chrome2Phone Alternative For Android 2.1 Users

LinkPush is a fairly ordinary browser extension, which does nothing more than pushing links from your browser (any browser, even Internet Explorer) to your Android phone. There’s already a widely popular extension called Chrome2Phone that does that but if you’re one of those people still on Android OS 2.1, then you might know Chrome2Phone doesn’t work for you and that’s where LinkPush comes in. The extension is used in conjunction with the Android app and effectively pushes links to your phone.

The extension adds a small Android Robot icon next to the URL bar in Chrome and on the Add-on bar in Firefox. The first time you use the extension it will require permission to connect using your Gmail account. You will have to install the free Android app to receive and open links on your device.

To send a link to your phone, simply click the icon in your browser. When you send multiple links, the app queues them in the reverse order they were sent in. Each time you launch the app on your phone, it opens the link in its queue. Extensions are available for Firefox and Chrome, for other browsers, a bookmark is available on the developer’s site.

Google & Motorola

NEW YORK : Motorola Mobility is in an unusual position.

Acquisitions are aimed at creating some well-articulated synergy between two firms, but Motorola's future role in its $12.5-billion deal with Google is unclear.

Motorola's rich trove of 17,000 patents will allow  Google to defend itself against foes like Apple and Microsoft in legal arena. But, Motorola's position is different.

In fact, the two companies are starkly different.Google makes Internet services and software, thrives on high profit margins and distributes its product using giant data centres. Motorola makes hardware, has modest margins and moves its products on trucks and airplanes.

Some hope the cultures will fuse and lead Motorola to a future as storied as its past. Martin Cooper, 82, who worked at Motorola for 30 years and developed the first hand-held cell-phones there, said he hoped great things would come from combining Google's momentum and confidence with Motorola's tradition of excellence in radio technology.

"The combination might make Motorola successful-- again," said Cooper, whose patent from the early 1970s for cellular phone technology is among those that hang at the company's entrance.

Motorola would become a laboratory for Google to seek to perfect Android in concert with newly acquired hardware engineers, industry analysts said.

But if it appears to be getting too cozy with Motorola, Google risks upsetting other mobile phone makers like HTC and Samsung, who run some of their smartphones and tablets on Android.
