When the iPhone first came onto the market, no-one could predict how hugely popular it was going to be and how it would revolutionize a generation. In fact, not only did it change the way people used their phones, it created a whole new industry – the Smartphone – in which it is the current and undisputed champion. While Android devices have made huge strides in eating into this lead, there still is no one single device that has the same depth of penetration into the marketplace as the iPhone.
As Apple continues to release enhancements and upgrades to its iconic product, people are eagerly waiting to hear information about the newest iteration of the iPhone – the iPhone 5 (or potentially the iPhone 4S depending upon whom you listen to) which succeeds the equally popular iPhone 4G. In fact, the iPhone 4 was so popular that Apple is planning to have 15 million units of the iPhone 5 ready for release day (current rumours are pointing to a September or October date for this) in expectation and based on their numbers they are expecting to sell 25 million units by the end of 2011!

While the iPhone 4 did have some issues – most notably problems with the Antenna which impacted people trying to make and receive calls (a somewhat important feature of a mobile phone!) – it is expected that their new device will provide a much better experience in this regard along with a whole host of enhanced specifications. Provided below are a list of the expected iPhone 5 specs.

Processing Power

Current rumours are pointing to the iPhone 5 utilizing Apple’s A5 dual-core processor. This super speedy and powerful processor was first utilized by Apple in the iPad 2 and it is a significant enhancement and improvement to the A4 processor. In addition to the improved processor expectations are high for an improvement in the RAM and overall storage space available.
However other rumours have stated that the reason the iPhone 5 was not released in June (on a similar schedule to that of earlier models) is due to the A5 processor overheating when combined with the new iPhone. If the processor problems are in fact confirmed and Apple is unable to find a solution in a reasonable timeframe, its next model might not be as revolutionary as expected and will only be a small and incremental improvement to the iPhone 4.

Iphone Operating System

The brains of the iPhone 5 will be its newest operating system – iOS 5. Recently released by Apple this new operating system offers some significant differences to its predecessors, most notably cutting the tether to iTunes and the PC in general. Flash unfortunately is still not an option with Apple and while some Android based Smartphone’s have emphasized the availability of Flash on their systems as a key differentiator – the lack of Flash on iPhone’s has not significantly impacted their market share.
Another key enhancement to the new OS is the fact that all software updates are now sent wirelessly and these updates only include the changes – not the whole Operating System!

iPhone Nano

Surprisingly however there are also rumours of an iPhone Nano with a 3 inch screen. The officially (unannounced) Nano will do away with the Home button making them significantly smaller in size to the current generation of iPhones on the market and these smaller units primarily built with iPhone 4 components, will also be offered at a significantly lower price than other iPhones – thereby potentially opening up the budget conscious market to Apple.
While the iPhone Nano will entice non-Smartphone users to Apple it is also expected that they will chip away at the budget Android handset marketplace also. While there are definitely valid reasons for Apple to create a smaller unit, these rumours are definitely unconfirmed at this time, and in fact sources at Apple have stated that Apple will not be releasing a smaller iPhone.

Iphone 5 Camera

Specs for the new iPhone 5 are currently pointing to the new iPhone 5 integrating an 8 megapixel camera into its case. While Nokia’s N8 (with a 12 megapixel camera) is still superior this camera and lens – probably supplied by Sony – will be a vast improvement on the 5 megapixel camera included in the iPhone 4 and with an improved LED flash, this might make enough of a difference.

Overall Look and Feel

Depending upon who does the talking the iPhone 5 could be completely different in look and feel to the iPhone 4 or it could only have some small cosmetic changes. Some of the more radical suggestions include replacing the glass back with a new metal back – which will also act as the new iPhone antenna. In addition there are details that the bezel itself will be changed and will incorporate touch-sensitive buttons around the newer larger 4 inch screen.

Apple is nothing if not innovative and its design styles and ideas have long been at the forefront of the Computer and Electronics industry. The iPhone has led the world and with its huge app store, Apple has a very hefty lead on its competition. As long as Apple does not experience another “Antenna Gate” similar to the problems with its iPhone 4, it should not only be able to maintain this lead but grow it even further and if in fact they do launch an iPhone Nano at a lower price point, they will truly be unassailable!

 So you want to block Facebook, Twitter, Email for a few hours so you can stop wasting time and do some productive work. Well it is a simple task if you want to block users on your computers, or want to save distraction time for yourself.

I was trying to access Facebook at a friend’s computer, and as I browsed to the website, I got this alert and Facebook was blocked.

I tried Twitter.com and same for Twitter! Same for email… my entire social interaction was blocked.
My friend chuckled and informed that he had manually blocked social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and all his email accounts so that he could concentrate on his work productivity and not waste time. How to Block Facebook, Twitter, Email

I hope you are using the Google Chrome browser (its the best out there), and install the Website Blocker extension. Edit some settings and you can block any website for as many hours as you want.
Choose the settings wisely and the extension provides a simple interface to  block websites, as many as you want and at custom times you want. You can also type an optional message.

For example, this code will block access to Facebook.com urls from 0900 to 1700 (9am-5 pm). I have been trying this for a few days and I assure you it is worth your time to use this – and get on Facebook, Twitter and email when you really want to.

How to Block Any Website for Employees / Users

This extension works well if you want to prevent access of social media sites by your employees. Simply block the sites during working hours and they will never know how to access them.

1. Hide the Website Blocker icon from the Chrome toolbar. Right click the icon and click “Hide button”

2. Disable the link from showing in the block message alert which can guide people to disable the options. Also disable the ability to edit settings from the popup alert options

Unless people really know how to browse around into Chrome settings, identify the website blocker, experiment with its settings and disable it –  it should work to block websites for most people. Just keep Chrome as default and only browser on the computer.

The Nokia X7 is one of the front-runners of Symbian Anna, a major overhaul bringing portrait QWERTY input, improved browser and a refreshed design to the Symbian^3 platform. But the X7 is also a media-centric device with a premium feel and a 4-inch AMOLED screen. It's also one of the latest high-end Nokia handsets running Symbian, so it deserves some special attention. But does it deserve your buck? We'll guide you through the novelties of the interface, see if that 680MHz ARM 11 processor under the hood can back up the experience, and look at the 8-megapixel fixed focus camera, but let's start with some history.

The Nokia X7 first leaked out in November 2010, but since then it's been through a bumpy ride to the market. In December, it appeared with AT&T branding and seemed set for a Stateside release, but only a month later either the carrier or the phone maker decided to cancel that partnership, so the device wouldn't appear subisdized in the States, at least initially. The Nokia X7 however was finally made official in April heralding the all-new Symbian Anna, previously known as PR 2.0.


Design:

But it's not just the new interface – the Nokia X7 is coming with a rather unique angular design with four grills on each of its corners, but only the bottom two hold speakers. A 4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels dominates the front. It doesn't come with Nokia's ClearBlack enhancement for nearly perfect blacks and better anti-reflection for outdoor visibility, but we found the colors to be very vivid, with blacks still very deep. Add to that Gorilla Glass scratch protection, and you're looking at a delicious screen, corrupted slightly only by the average sunlight legibility. Oh, and we do understand Nokia's wish to keep its ecosystem consistent, but that nHD 360 x 640 pixel resolution seems dated now.

Apple Magic Trackpad Control Panel In Windows 7

 

Editor’s Note: Apple Magic Trackpad is a wonderful device that is only restricted to Mac OS X. If you plan on using it on Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), you will have to follow the long hectic process of downloading and extracting Bootcamp patch, finding and renaming Trackpad Bin file to .exe format and finally installing the driver. Rather than following this difficult process, we have hosted the Trackpad Windows drivers for you at the bottom of the post

Now that you have Apple Magic Trackpad running on Windows 7, you will be disappointed to know that the default Mouse properties does not work. In short, you cannot customize the speed or gestures of track pad in Windows. This is where Magic Track pad Control Panel comes in. It is a brilliant tool that allows you to set the tracking speed, double-click speed, and scrolling speed of the track pad, and can be used to change both one finger and two finger gestures.

Under One Finger Gestures, you will find options to enable/disable Tap to Click, Dragging, Drag Lock, and Secondary Click. You can choose Bottom Right Corner or Bottom Left Corner position for Secondary Click. Under Two Finger Gestures, you will find options to enable/disable Scroll and Secondary Tab.
To start using Magic Trackpad Control Panel, first download the controlpanel1.zip file from the developer’s page and extract it. When done, open padset-0.3.exe file and then finally open the Trackpad Control Panel file in the same folder. It will launch the Magic Trackpad Control Center. When closed, it will sit in the system tray and can also be launched at system startup, with or without being minimized.


 Please remember that these steps will be important:

1. The Boot camp driver must be installed. But it seems only to work with all functions using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack.
2. The Microsoft Net Framework 4.0 Client Profile must be installed.
3. Unrar the files and start Trackpad Control Panel.exe
